HTML5 is “the future of the web”

As we know the Steve Jobs and Apple vs. Flash debate is nothing new. Recently Jobs pennned an essay in which he expresses his disdain for Flash and fully supports the more open platform of HTML5 for the future of web content delivery. Whats new is that Microsoft is now jumping on the HTML5 wagon.

Microsoft General Manager for Internet Explorer, Dean Hachamovitch, stated that Microsoft is generally speaking in agreement with Jobs. Hachamovitch feels that HTML5 is optimal due to the fact that no plug-ins are needed thus leading to a much more native and natural browsing experience.  He also shares Jobs’ feelings about the lack of “reliability, security, and performance.” Hachamovitch, however, does not totally spurn Flash. He feel that it still plays an important part in the users browsing experience.

Should be interesting to see how this all pans out in the coming months. My money is on Jobs, Apple, and HTML5. See ya, Flash.
