Rumors of iPad 3 coming out in third quarter?

April 17, 2011 Leave a comment

Since the release of iPad 2 on March 11, Apple sells about 2.6 millions iPad 2 in the first months.

However, there is a rumor of iPad 3 is coming out is going to release on September 2011 alone with iPhone 5.

Well, An unnamed Apple employee says that the iPad 2 was a bit of a rush job, and “the third generation iPad is the one to make a song and dance about.”

From the marketing views, it is unrealistic for Apple to launch the same product line within the half year, because it is not only killing the iPad 2 but also damage the Apple brand.

There are several article people can find about the feature and release date of iPad 3, and you can check the following link for detail. http://www.techradar.com/news/mobile-computing/ipad-3-rumours-what-you-need-to-know-937498

Personally, I believe that this news is a joke, but all rumor start with some truth. So here are some information I find about iPad 3.

1. the difference between iPad and iPad 2 is like iPhone 3 and iPhone 3G

Other than the front camera, thinner, and better norm. There is not much different between iPad and iPad 2, and with personal experience I can’t see the different if iPad 2 don’t have the camera.

2. According to electronic components industry, Apple already certified the retailer for iPad 3’s components  and ready for mass production

So the conclusion is draw as iPad 2 isn’t good enough, and Apple have the ability to produce iPad 3. Well, this might be the truth, but we will never know until this September.

Mobil Application Trend

April 3, 2011 Leave a comment

More and more Mobil phone users start to use smart phone or phone that allow applications, the are several application trend that marketers can’t ignore as these trends can provide unique marketing opportunities.

1. Localize Search and Deal Update

The explosion of location-based technology was revolutionary in the app world. Now we’re using that location information to deliver personalized and relevant updates and alerts. The number of apps and services that support hyper-local experiences is on the small side, but this is an area that is ripe for growth. These applications give the users the available offers around them, and most of them might be urgent to consume.

2. Integration with Drop Box and Other Cloud Services

A growing number of applications are taking advantage of the APIs provided by companies like Drop Box and Box.net and building in-app support for cloud storage and file access.

What this means is that when composing a document or a note on an iPhone or iPad, that same document can be retrieved and edited on an Android device, Black Berry a desktop or a laptop. The use of Dropbox and other cloud storage tools within mobile apps has evolved over the last year — shifting from a simple way to access documents to treating Dropbox as the default place to store files.

The application will allow application users have the access to upload and download their files anytime anywhere.

3. Easy Access to Twitter, Flicker, Facebook, and other social network website

It is not new that Mobil phone can access to different social network website, but more and more applications have the option to link with these social network website. Sharing photos, videos, checkin information and status updates to a variety of different networks is becoming the norm. Users will upload their achievement on game to receive the bragging right.

4. Front-Facing Camera Application.

One camera is history. The standard for Smart Phone now are 2 cameras, one front and one back.  Therefore, the opportunity for Front Camera application is created. Even though users might not be interesting now, they might use it in the future if it is available.

5. Photo and Video Filter

In late 2010, photo sharing application really started to take over the mobile app space. Photography has always been a popular mobile app category — from Flickr to Facebook — and mobile phones are consistently the most popular cameras in existence. However, phone cameras are often time less functional and the quality of the picture isn’t alway satisfied.

These applications provided a low level photo filter, and it provide incredible effect on the picture taking.

British study show…..this is just another way to advertise

February 8, 2011 Leave a comment

Have any of you saw these ridiculer British studies about….well anything possible. From the best day of the year to sexist woman on earth, and they all have some famous professor to sign their name on it. For a lot of us, we well realize that all these research are on kind of advertising strategy that a lot of AD company will use. When readers saw these articles on newspaper, there are some message build in their mind. For example, if you read a article about traveling and one night stand, will you pay attention on the traveling advertising right by the article? I will say the answer is “Yes” !!!

However, when these researches posted on the Taiwanese news, they lose their original purpose already.

Dr. Ben Goldacre, author of “Bad Silence”, shows several cases in his book to show how this advertising strategy is using.  For example on the sexist women on earth, which show the Jessica Alba is the perfect model type, Professor Richard Weber of Cambridge University and his team is responsible for this study. However, this is actually a advertisement that Clarion did for Veet, and there are no study at all.  Saw the original article below.

In this case, professor Weber is been used by Clarion, but some professors obviously doing all these fake research for money. One of the most famous one is Cliff Arnal, and he is famous in invented equations, such as the happiest day of the year and the worst day of the year. Needless to say, there are sponsors behind these equations, and the purpose are sell sell and sell. If you try to argue with him, it will just make his day even better.  see the link below.

Well, I won’t denied that this is a very interesting way to advertise, but what happen if the company name is removed from the article?

On the Yahoo Taiwan website, these articles are often translate and been consider as some sort of series news no matter how ridiculer they sounds.  For most people, they won’t try to exam the reliability of these articles and often time believes these are true. I will say it is a tragedy that people will believe in these articles just because it is on the internet.

In the following, I will show some recent article that start with British Study shows….

1)  British Study Shows Organic Milk are Healthier. For Now.

The fire paragraph is talking about the benefit of Organic Milk decrease……but this is really an advertisement for Scottish Spirits to  show their new can whisky product.
